What is psychosocial rehabiliation (PSR)?

At FOM Music Society we use a psychosocial model for supporting mental health.  We focus on making music, as a meaningful leisure activity, that connects people in a community of peers in a welcoming milieu.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) is a collaborative, person-centered approach designed to help individuals with mental health or substance use challenges improve their quality of life, gain independence, and successfully integrate into the community. It focuses on fostering personal recovery, resilience, and skill development—such as social skills, leisure activities, vocational training, and housing support.  Psychosocial rehabilitation services and supports are collaborative, person directed, and individualized, and an essential element of the human services spectrum. They focus on helping individuals develop skills and access resources needed to increase their capacity to be successful and satisfied in the living, working, learning and social environments of their choice and include a wide continuum of services and supports.
