What is psychosocial rehabiliation (PSR)?

Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) is a collaborative, person-centered approach designed to help individuals with mental health or substance use challenges improve their quality of life, gain independence, and successfully integrate into the community. It focuses on fostering personal recovery, resilience, and skill development—such as social skills, leisure activities, vocational training, and housing support.  Psychosocial rehabilitation services and supports are collaborative, person directed, and individualized, and an essential element of the human services spectrum. They focus on helping individuals develop skills and access resources needed to increase their capacity to be successful and satisfied in the living, working, learning and social environments of their choice and include a wide continuum of services and supports.

At FOM Music Society we use a psychosocial model for supporting mental health.  We focus on making music, as a meaningful leisure activity, that connects people in a community of peers in a welcoming milieu.

pathways BC

Pathways BC is a secure, online directory and resource tool designed to help patient and healthcare providers locate health related services across BC. It was developed by the Fraser Northwest Division of Family Practice and is now a provincial, independent non-profit society funded by Doctors of BC and the BC Ministry of Health.

Your can search the directory by region, and service type. It has a full Community Service directory, which includes mental health.
